…That's right! EVERYWHERE!!!
Glossy business cards, matte business cards, spot UV business cards and 12, 14 and 16 point business cards. If you leave your house, you most likely are confronted with a business card at some point. I've seen business cards that weren't even for anything. ANYONE can get a business card, which is why it's important that YOURS sticks out.
The thickness of your card is a nice inexpensive way to be sure your card makes an impression. 12 PT business cards are a thick business card that most people know about and have. It's not too thick and not too thin. Kind of plain if you ask me.
14 PT is a little thicker and feels pretty good in the hand. It's got some beef to it like "hey this is a thick business card!".
Now 16 PT business cards… THEY are beefy. A 16 PT business card is a card that gets the job done, as far as being a thick business card goes. It's super thick and feels even better in the hand than a 14 PT card.
You can get most any of the special treatments on these cards. Foil process, foil stamping, spot UV coating, FULL UV coating, one sided UV coating, rounded corners, metallic inks and silk coating. You can combine some of these as well.
We here at Luice Design came across a nice 14 PT business card with a silk coating and spot UV, all gathered around a desk, gawking at how nice it was. It was just some random example card and we were all floored by it.
When done tastefully, the combination of some treatments can create an absolutely beautiful card. Like I've said before, my favorite combination is a silk finish business card with foil stamping. It's elegant and simple, but says a lot. Don't limit yourself to just one treatment on your cards.
Remember, a first impression is the most important one.
