I can't even begin to tell you folks how great our staff here is. Really! If you don't believe me, go on over to the Luice Design Full Color Printing site and check out everything on there. All that was put together by our super star of web mastering, Katie, and her lovely assistant… Joe. They worked crazy hard on the site and got it up in record time. You gotta love ‘em for that.
Between the two of them, you've got over 10 years of web design knowledge.

By the way, the images in the banners on the site were taken by none other than myself. I can take pictures… YAY!

How about some print design? That's Danielle right there. Yep, the MVP. Talk about talent. I've seen tons of people try to do what she does and fall so short it's almost disgusting. She's so good at what she does. She knows what the customer is looking for before they even do! Where else can you get that but Luice Design people?!

Then there's Jack… The man could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves. Hell, he probably has!

Which brings me to the star of the office. Miss Nikki. She's what everyone who runs a company should look for in an office manager/customer service representative. Unbelievably helpful and just as sweet as …a really sweet thing. She'll get you whatever you need and answer all your questions no matter what. She's the best!!!

Oh and how could I forget our fearless leader Chris! Chris started Luice Design so we could all have a home for our talents. A veteran of the design world, he's been at this for around 13 years. His direction is great when our designers hit a wall creatively, and he puts together some awesome designs himself…when he's not out racing his shifter kart.

I do stuff too but I can't sit here and talk about myself. Okay, so I will admit that I am the #1 team player of the office. Mostly I do the custom pricing, blogging and some general office work. Occasionally you'll talk to me if Nikki's on the phone. I help out. GO ME!!!

Since I haven't mentioned it for a few lines, be sure you head on over to LuiceDesign.net and pick yourself up something nice and shiny! If you have any questions and don't want to use up your daytime minutes, we have at least 2 live operators on the website ready to help and assist you out at all times. Head on over… HURRY!!!

Isn't she pretty?!

Today… fold over business cards.. What? Fold over business cards!

Say, for example, you run or work for a parent company that has several businesses under it and you want to advertise that. All the business names, or small scale logos just might not fit on a standard size business card. This is where the fold over business card comes in!
What you're looking at is basically TWO business cards in one. You can have information inside and out. FOUR SURFACES and it'll sit on your desk or counter like a little tent card. You can have some flashy, eye catching art work on the front panel to make people want to grab the card up, which is step one. Now it's in their hands on their own accord and they're going to look at it. They open it up, and BAM! They're hit with all kinds of good stuff. Logos, info, phone numbers and maybe a little bit of info about your company. Like I said, it's 2 business card's worth of information in one.

The best part is that you can get all kinds of special flashy treatments on these things. Spot UV, silver ink, METALLIC inks and one sided or full UV coating. YEAH! Metallic inks are really cool because it's just like printing with normal inks but they SPARKLE! It's not quite the same as the foil process but it's not all that different either. I personally like the foil better but the metallic inks are still really killer.

The fold over business card is a GREAT tool when you need slightly more than JUST a business card.

…That's right! EVERYWHERE!!!

Glossy business cards, matte business cards, spot UV business cards and 12, 14 and 16 point business cards. If you leave your house, you most likely are confronted with a business card at some point. I've seen business cards that weren't even for anything. ANYONE can get a business card, which is why it's important that YOURS sticks out.

The thickness of your card is a nice inexpensive way to be sure your card makes an impression. 12 PT business cards are a thick business card that most people know about and have. It's not too thick and not too thin. Kind of plain if you ask me.
14 PT is a little thicker and feels pretty good in the hand. It's got some beef to it like "hey this is a thick business card!".
Now 16 PT business cards… THEY are beefy. A 16 PT business card is a card that gets the job done, as far as being a thick business card goes. It's super thick and feels even better in the hand than a 14 PT card.

You can get most any of the special treatments on these cards. Foil process, foil stamping, spot UV coating, FULL UV coating, one sided UV coating, rounded corners, metallic inks and silk coating. You can combine some of these as well.
We here at Luice Design came across a nice 14 PT business card with a silk coating and spot UV, all gathered around a desk, gawking at how nice it was. It was just some random example card and we were all floored by it.

When done tastefully, the combination of some treatments can create an absolutely beautiful card. Like I've said before, my favorite combination is a silk finish business card with foil stamping. It's elegant and simple, but says a lot. Don't limit yourself to just one treatment on your cards.
Remember, a first impression is the most important one.

Today's lesson in business cards is about… wait for it… SPOT UV!!!

While it's not the most shiny of the printing treatments, it's still incredibly awesome looking and serves its purpose very well. Say you're a photographer and you want your business card to include a couple of small photos on your card. Foil process won't be a good choice for that, really. It COULD be done, but it wouldn't really get the point across. What you want to do is spot UV. Basically what you end up with is a matte business card, with glossy spots on it. These glossy spots will draw people's attention to the photos, assuming we are still going with the photographer example.

Of course you don't have to go with that specific example. You can do the spot UV treatment on just the text, your name or a plain old spot UV design with no real picture or anything behind it. It's a little easier to get away with fun tricks with the spot UV coating than some of the other treatments like foil stamping.

You don't have to go with just the special SPOT UV on the cards either. You could always just go with a high gloss, full UV coat on the card, or UV on either the front or back. This comes in handy as the UV coating can't be written on with a normal pen. If you need to write on the back of your card, but still want the glossy finish, this is perfect for you, actually. You'll still have the full gloss front of the card with the ability to write appointments, etc. on the back. It's a multi-functional business card!!

It's hard to see in this photo, but the girl has the spot UV coating, and you'll notice it says "price: date: time" next to her. That part is un-coated and can be written on.
